Job Title: Shipping Coordinator

SUMMARY
Verifies and keeps records outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Reads shipping orders to determine quantity and type of transportation needed.
Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of outgoing shipments to verify information against NPC, Inc. records.
Determines method of shipment.
Posts weights and shipping charges.
Contacts carrier representative to make arrangements and to issue instructions for loading products.
Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
Informs shipping dock representative of loading location and time of arrival of transportation.
Performs other clerical tasks such as typing and mailing bills, typing correspondence, filing, and maintaining other related information.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
One year certificate from college or technical school; or six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate and percent. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, percentages, and volume.
COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have thorough understanding of Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
