File Submission Guidelines

NPC’s wants to make your electronic file submission process as seamless as possible. Please review the following guidelines before sending us your files and/or graphics:

File Transfer methods

Electronic file transfer is the quickest way to get your files to NPC. To send us your files over the Internet using our FTP (File Transfer Protocol) site, contact your NPC Customer Service Specialist to obtain a username and password.

If sending files on external media (CD or DVD), mail to:

Supported Software

NPC accepts both MAC and PC files in different file formats. We use the latest versions of software programs and prefer to receive files in the following formats:

  • Quark XPress
  • Adobe Illustrator
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Adobe InDesign
  • Adobe Acrobat (PDF files with fonts and images embedded)

Accepted Images/Graphics

All photos should be at least 300 dpi. Image file formats that we accept (in order of preference):

  • EPS
  • TIFF
  • JPG

Submission Guidelines

When supplying NPC with source files (Quark XPress, InDesign, fonts, graphics, etc.), please include page layout files, printer and screen fonts, file names with 31 characters or less, and all graphic files (EPS, TIFF and JPG) used in your documents.

To ensure successful output and avoid additional charges and delays, please review the following before submitting files to NPC:

Documents

  • Remove all duplicate and unnecessary files
  • Include all fonts
  • All image files are included (all graphics, halftones and logos)
  • All type/images are at least ¼-inch from trim or punch
  • Bleed items extend ¼-inch beyond trim
  • Hard copy matches digital file
  • Document page size and page count match quote
  • Spine size is correct.

PDF

  • Embed all fonts and images in the file
  • Do not down-sample images
  • Select “no color conversion”
  • Omit any security settings
  • If your job is printing in Pantone spot colors, make sure the colors are defined or labeled properly before you create your PDF file.

Photos/Graphics

  • All images are high-resolution
  • All images are CMYK or grayscale (not RGB or indexed)
  • Images that are 4-color are CMYK (not RGB or indexed)
  • If images are embedded in a file, please include image files with the job.
