Electronic File Submission Guidelines and Checklist
Checklist. File Formats. Submission Inclusions. Accepted Media.
In order to ensure successful output of the files sent to us, please check your files for these common causes of additional charges and delays to your job before submission:
- All Fonts are Included
- All Image Files are Included (All graphics, halftones & logos should be included)
- All graphics, halftones and logos are high-resolution
- All Fonts/Images are Embedded in the PDF File
- Spine Size is Correct
- Document Page Size matches Quote
- Page Count matches Quote
- Hard Copy matches Digital File
- Bleed Items extend 1/4" beyond trim
- All Type/Images are at least 1/4" from Trim or Punch
- Images are CMYK or Grayscale (not RGB or Indexed)
- Images that print 4-color are "CMYK" (not RGB or Indexed)
- Duplicate & unnecessary files are removed
File Formats
NPC accepts files in the following program formats.
- Quark XPress
- Illustrator
- PageMaker
- InDesign
- PhotoShop
- PDF (Portable Document Format) with fonts & images embedded
NPC accepts the following image file formats:
- EPS - Encapsulated PostScript
- TIFF - Tagged Image File Format
Source File Submission
If you are submitting source files, (i.e. Quark, PageMaker, fonts, graphics, etc.) the elements you need to include on or with your transportable media are:
- Page layout files
- All printer and screen fonts
- EPS and/or TIFF files used in your documents
- Fonts
- 31 characters or less for file names
Accepted Media
NPC can currently accept the following types of formatted transportable media:
- File Transmission via e-mail
- CD (Please label all media with name and address for prompt return.)
- FTP Site set up for customers
