Types of Proofs
NPC can provide several different types of proofs. How do you choose? Take a look at the options:
Spinjet
The Spinjet printer combines high productivity, uncompromising image quality, and "intelligent" printing solutions that simplify workflow.
- high productivity with reliable, high-speed large format printing
- not 100% color-accurate, but give a general idea of the colors
- most common proof type at NPC
- affordable method to get an accurate proof of margins, trimming, and layout.
CromaPro™
CromaPro™ is the most flexible solution of its kind on the market, capable of creating repeatable color proofs and suitable in matching both color and position for the vast majority of applications, including imposition applications. The CromaPro™ system provides professional quality integrated tools such as:
- ICC compliance
- Accurate black and white/monochrome rendering
- Unique spot color support and custom process capabilities for even the most demanding proofing applications.
Press Proofs
Press proofs are the most accurate proofs, since they simulate the final printed product using the press, plates, and actual inks specified for the job. Press proofs are used to verify images, tone values, colors, and imposition. This proof is used to:
- Confirm paper and ink colors and their interaction
- Check for registration
- Check page-to-page color printing/color consistency
- Ensure overall appearance of the type and the absence of stray marks or hickeys
- Most expensive proofing method
Use of press proofs is recommended where color and accuracy is critical.
PDF Proofs
PDF proofs are for composition and general color proofing only and not for purposes of determining the color accuracy, due to monitor calibration difference. They provide a quick and reasonable means for checking accuracy and layout of your files for print.
