We understand the importance of education in overcoming obstacles, and we refuse to let hunger hinder students’ potential. Hundreds of students nationwide and in our own backyards face weekend resource limitations, affecting their attendance and academic performance. In 2022, we implemented the NPC Gives Back(pack) Initiative to supplement local backpack programs. These programs provide backpacks full of nutritious food items for students each week. We help fill thousands of backpacks annually through combined monetary and food donations, ensuring every student has the essential resources needed to succeed.
When it comes to the sacrifices made by our armed forces, “thank you” will never be enough. At NPC, we are deeply committed supporting these heroes. From adopting the’ RED Friday’ (Remember Everyone Deployed) tradition and recognizing veterans within our facilities to donating time and resources to local organizations, we consistently do our part to honor our military community.
First Responders courageously risk their lives daily to serve our communities and embody the essence of selflessness. They bravely enter burning buildings, safeguard public safety, and provide unwavering support during crises. At NPC, we deeply respect and value their tireless dedication. Through donations and sponsorship of The Blair County Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Foundation, we honor and proudly support those who have sacrificed for our safety.
For 70 years, our local community has been an integral part of our success. So, what better way to thank you than to share our successes with organizations and charities most meaningful to our company and employees? That means sponsoring, contributing monetarily, and volunteering at events like the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Mid-Penn Region® chapter’s annual golf tournament and The Giorgio Foundation’s Office Madness and A Night to End NF1. Or doing our part to strengthen our neighborhoods with donations to numerous local groups that align with the NPC mission and uphold our core values.
Charlotte and Barney Barnhart, the founders of NPC, played a pivotal role in establishing the PA-NJ Chapter of the American Chestnut Foundation (PA-TACF). We consider it our responsibility to uphold their legacy by backing PA-TACF’s mission to revive the American chestnut tree in its native eastern North American woodlands through research and education. The foundation’s objectives include creating a disease-resistant tree that benefits the environment, wildlife, and society. We support PA-TACF through financial contributions, in-kind donations like printing, providing land and labor for tree restoration, and raising awareness about the blight plight of the American chestnut. As a paper-dependent business, NPC wouldn’t exist without trees. That’s why we remain dedicated to tree restoration efforts and nurturing a new generation of American chestnut enthusiasts.
